FUSI Fakultas Teknik UI mengadakan acara Islamic Engineering Days 2012dengan tema “Moslem Society Empowerment Through Environmentally Friendly Technology”. Acara terdiri dari lomba ilmiah, pameran teknologi, seminar nasional, workshop, dan forum mahasiswa. Acara yang bertempat di FTUI dan Perpus Pusat UI ini dilaksanakan pada 23—25 Februari 2012. Tujuan dari acara ini adalah untuk mengembangan agama Islam dengan ilmu. Selama ini, kebanyakan kajian acara FUSI FT UI membahas tentang agama padahal ilmu juga penting untuk dibahas. FUSI FTUI ingin mengembangkan dakwah yang berbasis keilmuan. Peserta yang hadir di acara ini bukan hanya peserta muslim,tetapijuga peserta nonmuslim.

Lomba ilmiah berskala nasionalyang diselenggarakanterdiri dari dua katagori,yaitu mahasiswa dan siswa SMA. Untuk mahasiswa diadakan lomba inovasi teknologi yang dapat diterapkan sedangkan untuk siswa SMA diadakan lomba esai. Sementara itu, Seminar nasional terdiri dari dua tema. Seminar pertama, yaitu“Merajut Keihklasan Berprofesi”dengan pembicara ustadz, Ust.Zainal Abidin, Lc, dan dari kalangan ilmuwan, Dipl. -Ing. Endri Rachman. Seminar nasional yang kedua mengangkat tema “Pro Kontra Implementasi Energi Terbarukan”. Pembicara yang hadir Dr. Ir. Awiek Sarwiyana, M.Eng., dan Dr. –Ing. Ir Misri Gozan, M.Teclt. Seminar ini membahas tentang sumber energi bio fuel dan nuklir serta dampaknya terhadap lingkungan. Adapunworkshopyang diselenggarakan mengangakat stema “Solar Cell Development: Trend and Future Prospects”. Workshop ini menghadirkan Badrul Munir Ph.D. salah satu dosen FTUI. (FYN)
