Jumat, 2 Maret 2012, di Ruang Promosi Doktor Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat (FKM)UI, berlangsung acara Bedah Buku dan Kesehatan Masyarakat: Investasi Manusia Menuju Masyarakat Sejahtera karya Prof. Ascobat Gani. Acara tersebut bertepatan dengan Grand Launching Administration and Health Policy Student Association (AHPSA) tahun 2012, himpunan mahasiswa Departemen Administrasi Kebijakan Kesehatan (AKK) FKM UI. Acara tidak hanya dihadiri oleh kalangan UI saja,tetapi juga diikuti oleh lembaga mahasiswa tingkat nasional seperti Perhimpunan Aktivis Muda Indonesia (PAMI) dan Ikatan Ahli Kesehatan Masyarakat Indonesia (IAKMI).

Acara dibuka dengansambutan dari Ketua Himpunan AKK FKM UI, Idris Ahmad, sekretaris Departemen AKK FKM UI, dr. Mieke Savitri, M.Kes., dan sekretaris FKM UI Dr. Ede Surya Darmawan, S.K.M., M.D.M. Acara bedah buku diisi oleh Prof. dr. Ascobat Gani, M.P.H., dan Dr. Zulazmy Mamdi, M.PH., keduanya dosen FKM UI. Diskusi bedah buku tersebut dimoderatori Idris Ahmad.

Di dalam diskusi bedah bukunya, Prof. Ascobat Gani menyampaikan,tujuan utama dari kesehatan masyarakat sebenarnya adalah mengubah masyarakat untuk berperilaku hidup sehat, dimana hal tersebut bisa terlaksana jika didukung dengan kebijakan pemerintah. Prof. Ascobat Gani juga berpesan kepada para mahasiswa calon sarjana kesehatan masyarakat tentang inti dari kesehatan masyarakat adalah turun ke lapangan dan bukan sekedar teoritis. Sebagai bagian dari tenaga kesehatan masyarakat sudah seharusnya terjun di masyarakat dengan sepenuh hati, sebagaimana seperti petikan kata-kata Prof. Ascobat Gani, “Public health is something to do with loving the people”. Acara bedah buku berlangsung sangat menarik terbukti dari banyaknya peserta acara yang mengajukan berbagai macam pertanyaan dan semuanya dijawab dengan menarik dan memuaskan oleh kedua pembicara, yaitu Prof. Ascobat Gani dan Dr. Zulazmy Mamdi. Acara dilanjutkan dengan peresmian AHPSA 2012 yang diresmikan dengan pemukulan gong. Acara diakhiri dengan book signing oleh Prof. Ascobat Gani. (DAI)
