Novi Silvia Hardiany dari jurusan Ilmu Biomedik berhasil mempertahankan disertasinya di hadapan para penguji di Aula Fakultas Kedokteran UI, Rabu (18/07). Judul disertasinya yaitu “Penghambatan Ekspresi Gen Manganese Superoksida Dismutase pada Galur Sel Glioblastoma Multiforme T98G : Dampaknya terhadap Ketahanan Hidup dan Stres Oksidatif Akibat Induksi Rotenon.”

Sidang dipimpin oleh Dr. dr. Siti Setiati, Sp.PD. dengan tim penguji terdiri dari ketua tim penguji yaitu Prof. DR. rer. Med. DR. Habil HJ Freisleben, dengan anggota yaitu DR. dr. Sri Widia A. Jusman, MS, Prof. DR. Dr. Soehartati Gondhowiardjo, Sp.Rad.Onk(K), dan Kolonel Kes Dr. Isdwiranto Iskanto, M.Sc., Sp.Bs., Sp.K.P.. Bertindak sebagai promotor yaitu Prof. Dr. Mohamad Sadikin, D.Sc. dengan kopromotor DR. rer. Physiol. Dr. Septelia Inawati Wanandi dan Dr. Nurjati Chaerani, Sp.P.A(K), M.S., Ph.D.

Penelitiannya ini bertujuan menganalisis dampak penghambatan ekspresi MnSOD terhadap ketahanan hidup sel Glioblastoma Multiforme dan induksi stres oksidatif akibat rotenon. Kesimpulan yang didapat yaitu penghambatan ekpresi gen MnSOD atau induksi rotenon dapat menurunkan ketahanan hidup sel T98G. Akan tetapi, apabila penghambatan ekspresi MnSOD tersebut diikuti dengan induksi rotenon ternyata terjadi penurunan bermakna radikal superoksida dan apoptosis. Lebih lanjut ia mengatakan, radikal superoksida kemungkinan berperan pada proses apoptosis sel T98G terebut. (KHN)
