Sehubungan dengan maraknya penipuan melalui media short message service (SMS) dan media sosial (facebook dll) yang mengatasnamakan Wakil Rektor bidang Akademik dan Kemahasiswaan (Prof. Dr. Bambang Wibawarta, S.S., M.A.), kami mengimbau kepada warga UI agar berhati-hati terhadap modus penipuan tersebut.

Apabila Anda menerima informasi yang mengatasnamakan pimpinan UI melalui SMS atau media sosial, diharapkan segera melapor dengan meneruskan pesan tersebut ke Kantor Komunikasi di nomor 0812 9006 2200 atau menghubungi Layanan Informasi UI di nomor telepon (021) 2997 2200.

Informasi atau pengumuman resmi dari pihak UI disampaikan melalui:
• Surat pemberitahuan resmi,
• Laman resmi UI seperti www.ui.ac.id, www.mahasiswa.ui.ac.id, www.humas.ui.ac.id, dan www.uiupdate.ui.ac.id.

Pengumuman melalui SMS hanya dilakukan dengan sender id "UI" (untuk pengguna provider XL, sender id UI akan muncul sebagai nomor '91986982087') atau dari nomor SMS UI 0812 9006 2200. Pengumuman melalui SMS tetap disertai tautan ke laman ber-domain ui.ac.id.

Demikian imbauan ini kami sampaikan untuk menjadi perhatian bersama warga UI.

Berikut contoh SMS penipuan yang mengatasnamakan Pimpinan UI:

"Sy Bpk. Arman Nefi (Kmhswn UI) Diberitahukn Kpd Sdri. Renita Putri M. Hrp Sgera Mhub Bpak Prof.Dr MOH.ANIS.(081296861555) Shub Ada Undngn "SemNas"Ditjen Dikti.Akndismpaikn Perihal Trlmpir Undgn Pningktn Mutu Pend&SDM, Karakter Mhsw, Srta Pngembgn WirausahaMuda Mandiri2014.Tgl 22/23 Mar Htel Nusa Dua Bali."

Kepada sivitas UI yang pernah menerima SMS serupa mohon untuk meneruskan pesan tersebut ke Kantor Komunikasi pada no telp. 0812 9006 2200. Yuk, kita bantu rekan-rekan kita agar terhindar dari modus penipuan serupa.
