Departemen Ilmu Kimia Universitas Indonesia (UI) bekerja sama dengan American Chemical Society (ACS) menyelenggarakan Skill Workshop for Young Scientists & Engineers pada Rabu (13/02).

Terdapat 200 peserta terpilih dari seluruh Indonesia dapat mengikuti 2 dari 4 sesi mentoring yang disediakan, yaitu “Publishing Your Research”, “Communicating Your Science”, “Finding Your Career Path”, dan “Writing Winning Research Proposals”.

Pelatihan gratis ini menghadirkan tiga pembicara dari ACS yang melakukan mentoring secara serentak di 3 ruangan di Perpustakaan Pusat UI. Steven Meyers, Ph.D. yang menjabat sebagai International Activities Manager ACS, memberikan materi “Publishing Your Research” di Ruang Terapung. Materi “Writing Winning Research Proposals” diberikan oleh H. N. Cheng, Ph.D. (Research Chemist United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service) sebagai mentor di Ruang Sinema. Lokasi ketiga adalah Ruang Rapat 5C yang digunakan untuk pemberian materi “Finding Your Career Path” dan “Communicating Your Science”oleh Jodi L. Wesemann, Ph.D. (Assistant Director for Higher Education ACS) sebagai mentor.

Ini adalah kali pertama Skill Workshop for Young Scientists & Engineers diselenggarakan. Dari acara ini, diharapkan para ilmuwan dan teknisi muda di Indonesia dapat mengembangkan wawasan dan melatih kemampuan yang dimilikinya serta mengaplikasikan ilmunya di dalam bidang yang dikuasainya masing-masing.
