Pada Rabu petang (02/05) secara resmi ditutup acara Cultural Fair UI and Universitas Imam Muhammad bin Saud yang telah berlangsung sejak 30 April di Perpustakaan Pusat Kampus Depok. Pada kesempatan itu hadir Direktur Kemahasiswaan UI, Wakil Rektor 1 UI, Direktur Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Islam (LIPIA) Wakil Rektor Universitas Imam Muhammad bin Saud Kerajaan Saudi Arabia dan Duta Besar Kerajaan Saudi Arabia untuk Indonesia.

Kegiatan Cultural fair ini berlangsung sejak tanggal 30 April, diisi dengan berbagai kegiatan, antara lain pameran foto dan buku-buku tentang Islam di Perpustkaan Pusat UI, juga dilaksanakan lomba hafalan Qur'an (3 Jua, 5 Juz dan 10 juz) serta Hapalan da saryah hadist yang diikuti oleh 40 peserta dari UI, LIPIA dan Universitas Imam. Pada penutupan acara kepada para juara diberikan hadiah sejumlah uang. Acara diakhiri dengan makan bersama di Balairung.

Tadinya akan ditanda tangani nota kesepahaman kerjasama antara UI dengan Universitas Imam Muhammad bin Saud. Tetapi karena Rektor Imam Muhammad bin Saud tidak bisa hadir ke Indonesia, penandatanganan kerjasama ditunda. Namun demikian kedua belah pihak sepakat untuk lebih mempererat hubungan kedua universitas, kegiatan lomba akan dilanjutkan tahun depan yang akan dilaksanakan di Universitas Imam Muhammad bin Saud di Kerajaan Saudi Arabia.(mrr)
