Limb Salvage Surgery (LSS) dengan metode extracorporeal irradiation (ECI) merupakan salah satu metode rekonstruksi defek tulang pasca pembedahan sarcoma tulang pada ekstremitas dan pelvis. Namun pajanan ECI dosis ? 50 Gy per fraksi tunggal dapat menyebabkan delayed union atau non-union serta mengurangi kekuatan mekanik tulang. Pendekatan SPM dan recombinant human (rh) BMP-2 diharapkan mampu mempercepat union osteotomi dan meningkatkan kekuatan mekanik tulang yang telah mendapat pajanan ECI.
