Pada Rabu (15/05) di Balai Sidang Universitas Indonesia (UI) Depok, Pusat Kajian Timur Tengah dan Islam (PKTTI) UI menyelenggarakan acara Peluncuran dan Bedah Buku Membangun Negara Kuat, Kontribusi Islam terhadap Pemikiran Politik Barat. Buku terbitan UI Press tahun 2013 ini ditulis Dr. Abdul Muta’ali, M.A., M.I.P., dosen Program Pascasarjana Kajian Timur Tengah dan Islam UI.

Acara dimoderatori oleh Muhammad Ibrahim Hamdani (Asisten Direktur PKTTI UI) dan menghadirkan beberapa pembicara dan narasumber, yaitu Dr. H. Abdul Muta’ali, MA, MIP (penulis buku dan Direktur PKTTI UI) Prof. Dr. H. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A. (Wakil Menteri Agama RI), Dr. H. Muhammad Luthfi Zuhdi, M.A. (Atase Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan [Atdikbud] KBRI Riyadh di Kerajaan Arab Saudi 2009-2012). Hadir pula pembahas buku untuk dimintai testimoninya yaitu, Dra. Hj. Shinta Abdurrahman Wahid, M.Hum. (Istri Alm. Abdurrahman Wahid) dan Elba Damhuri (Redaktur Pelaksana Republika).

Dengan acara ini, PKTTI UI ingin mewujudkan komitmen dan tanggung jawab mereka selaku panitia, peserta aktif, dan penandatangan Jakarta Recommendationyang disepakati dalam International Conference on Islam, Civilitation and Peace yang terdiri dari sembilan pasal atau kesepakatan dari seluruh peserta konferensi internasional tersebut. Konferensi tersebut diselenggarakan atas kerja sama Kementerian Waqaf, urusan Agama Islam, dan Tempat-Tempat Suci Kerajaan Hasyimiah Yordania dengan Kementerian Agama RI. Oleh karena itu, PKTTI UI bertekad untuk memelopori dan merealisasikan khususnya 3 pasal Jakarta Recommendationyang singkatnya adalah meningkatkan pemahaman tentang Islam, membangun dialog antara berbagai mazhab pemikiran dalam Islam, serta menarik semua bangsa untuk berbagi sumber daya dan sarana untuk memperkuat peran pendidikan dalam memberdayakan masyarakat dan kualitas generasi muda.
