Pada Senin (28/10), Fakultas Ilmu Komputer Universitas Indonesia (Fasilkom UI) menyelenggarakan seminar dengan tema “The Evolution of Music” di Ruang Rapat Besar Gedung A Fasilkom UI oleh. Seminar yang dimulai tepat pukul 13.00 WIB ini berisi pemaparan oleh Prof. Susanto Rahardja, Ph.D. yang adalah IEEE Fellow.

Kuliah dibuka dengan penjelasan singkat tentang sejarah format musik dan pemutar musik (music player) dari masa ke masa. Prof. Susanto membagi ilmunya mengenai Lossless Audio Coding, Lossy Audio Coding, Lossy (Perceptual) Audio Coding-Psychoacoustic, Lossy (Perceptual) Audio Coding, The AVS Audio Standardization Road Map, dan Existing Audio Codecs. Setelah itu, dilanjutkan dengan grafik Technology Trends beserta kesimpulannya.

Setelah itu, Prof. Susanto mengisi seminarnya dengan materi mengenai High Definition-Advanced Audio Coding (HD-AAC) dengan Encoder Basic Structure berupa HD-AAC (juga dikenal sebagai MPEG-4 SLS), HD-AAC Key Technologies Integer Modified Discrete Cosine Transform (IntMDCT), HD-AAC Key Technologies IntMDCT-IntDCT-IV, HD-AAC Key Technologies Entropy Coding, HD-AAC Journey-In Detail, HD-AAC (juga dikenal sebagai SLS)-Performance, beserta kesimpulan dari HD-AAC itu sendiri, yang salah satunya adalah one unified file for all playback environment.

Selanjutnya, seminar memasuki topik mengenai Enhancing HD-AAC, di mana setiap scalefactorband (sfb) memiliki sensitivitas perseptual yang berbeda-beda. Prof. Susanto memaparkan pula tentang MNR Performance of Enhanced HD-AAC, Enhancing HD-AAC using Dual Scalable, Music Streaming, Adaptive Streaming with Enhanced HD-AAC, Experimental Results, dan diakhiri dengan kesimpulan serta penggambaran mengenai tren di masa depan, di mana kita bisa mengakses fail audio dengan kualitas terbaik (lossless) langsung melalui internet tanpa hambatan.
